Cage of Death 26/06/16

Kayla and I woke up early this morning to head to our crocodile ‘Cage of Death’ dive. We were going to a park called Crocosaurus Cove which was literally 2 minutes from our hostel.

As soon as we got there we saw people in the cage. It was then we realised we would be diving with a 5.5 metre, 800kg crocodile! I have never seen a crocodile that big before! I was definitely nervous.

We had our safety briefing, which basically consisted off ‘don’t stick your hands out the cage or you’ll lose them’. The cage was more like a glass tank with slits in the sides to look through.

We got in the cage and were lowered into the water. We were really lucky as ‘Chopper swam right up to the cage. We were so close and only separated by a few inches of glass.

The park staff held food out right next to us so we got to see him jump out of the water. He ended up hitting the cage with his jaw which was quite scary for us.

After the dive, which was amazing, we dried off and went to watch the crocodile show. We saw the staff feed the crocodiles and got to feed the baby (two meter!!!) crocodiles ourselves. We also looked round the reptile center.

Then when we went to choose our photos we got to hold a baby crocodile called ‘Fluffy’. We did lots of different poses which was a lot of fun.

We came back to the hostel and chilled by the pool for a few hours.
