Gumlom Falls 30/06/16

This morning we had breakfast and got on the bus early to travel to Gunlom Falls in Kakadu. We were told there were a few waterfalls with an infinity pool looking over the edge. The downside was that we had to hike for ages up a ridiculously steep track to get there.

Luckily the views were completely worth it…the pools were gorgeous! We had another group photo, which was really difficult to arrange with over 20 people attempting to climb on a slippery rock. We then spent the rest of the time swimming and taking photos.

The rocks were really slippy from the moss so it was quite difficult to get across them. Koosje, one of the girls in our group, slipped and hit her head which was quite worrying. She was ok but had to leave the rocks early with Lisa.

We spent a couple of hours at the pools and then climbed back down to the bottom of the waterfall. There was a plunge pool which was the site where they filmed scenes from Crocodile Dundee,

We had lunch from Kakadu bakery and then started to travel to Katherine. The further into the outback we go, the worse the roads get. It was really bumpy and we think it caused the bus to break.

Halfway through our journey it started to beep really loudly which was really annoying! We had to pull over whilst Lisa tried to fix it, and then we stopped at a pub whilst Lisa phoned mechanics. We ended up carrying on to Katherine with the music on loud trying to drown the beeping out.

We were staying at the Katherine Ibis Hotel, which was really nice. I carried on sharing with Kath, Emily and Kayla, For dinner, we got dressed up and went to Katherine Country Club. I got a meat platter, which was literally a plate of meat. Lisa met us there later after she had taken the bus to be fixed.

We had a few drinks after dinner, and then went back to the hotel to bed.
