Grampians Hike, Volcano & Warrnambool 17/07/16

Our first stop this morning was Lake Bellfield, which was really eerie. It was really cold and foggy so it looked creepy. Sid was taking the piss saying the lake was called 'Lake Bellend', which he then had to attempt to explain to the three french people on our tour who didn't get the reference and genuinely believed him. Jade, Sarah and I were trying not to laugh.

We then stopped at a random trail in the middle of the Grampains National Park. We hiked up a huge rock which had an amazing view when you got to the top.

We sat up there for a while before climbing down. It was really steep and at one point one of the french guys slipped and fell straight into a bush.

Then Sid drove us to a dormant volcano called Mount Rouse, which I found really interesting. It normally erupts every 5000 years but there hasn’t been one in almost 6000. We got to drive right into the crater.

We then stopped at a cool lake near the volcano for some photos, and drove to a town called Warrnambool for a BBQ lunch. Its so cool that a lot of parks here have free BBQs for anyone to use. I wish we had them back home!

There was another lake there so after lunch Sarah, Jade and I went for a walk. On our way back Sarah got chased by a huge black swan which was pretty scary.
