I got up early to say bye
to Emily as she had to leave for work at 7.30 :( I then went back to bed for a couple of hours and when I woke up, I packed up my
stuff to leave.
Lisa came back from work
to drop me at the station to head into the city. I was getting a Greyhound bus
at 12.30pm to Canberra, which is Australia’s capitol city. I checked on to the bus, stocked up on bus snacks at 7/11 and started the 8
hour journey. The bus had charge points and wifi (although it was really dodgy)
so the time passed really quickly.
It didn’t start off too
well as there was a baby screaming for the first hour. I had my headphones in, but
could still hear her. Once she fell asleep it was better and I managed to catch
up on writing my blog and calling home.
It felt really strange
leaving Melbourne, and I think the bus journey was when I realised I was back
to being completely on my own. It's hard being with the same people for around a month and
then leaving everyone, so I felt a bit down.
I got to Canberra at
around 8ish, and had to find my way to the hostel. I was staying at the
Canberra YHA, which I thought was only 5 minutes from the bus station, so I
decided to walk. I soon realised it was more like 15 minutes, which still felt
longer when I was carrying all my stuff!
I checked into my dorm,
and met Taylor, an American girl who was travelling towards Melbourne and in
Canberra for a couple of days. We decided to spend the next day exploring
Canberra together. I was so drained for all the travelling I went to bed pretty
early.
