I had to be up really
early this morning to meet the coach which would take me to the ferry port for
Kangaroo Island. I had booked a full day tour with a company called Sea Link. I had to walk to Adelaide
Central Bus Station, which was a lot nearer to the hostel than I thought, so I
managed to have some time to catch up with mum.
Once I got on the coach,
it was around a 2 hour drive to get to Cape Jervis. I was quite nervous
about getting on the ferry, as I thought I would get sea sick. I took loads of
medication and ginger and luckily didn’t feel too bad. It was only a 45 minute
journey which helped.
I got chatting to a
Greek-Australian family on the ferry. Two sisters, Ellen and Marie from Sydney
were travelling with their mum Vorsha.
We started the tour by
visiting Seal Bay, which was full of sea lions and seals. We walked along a path with seals lying next to it and a boardwalk where they were directly under us. We weren't allowed to stop and take photos in case they became aggressive!
We were taught all about their habits, and then got to walk on to the beach next to them. They were a lot bigger than I imagined they would be. We saw some swimming in the water, and then watched them walk back onto the beach, We then walked back to the bus through the gift shop which was full of seal memorabilia.
We carried on driving for around an hour before stopping for a buffet lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro which was really nice.

After lunch, we drove to Hanson Bay Koala Sanctuary. Most of the trees had
koalas in them which was really cool, but slightly unnerving to walk underneath.
We also managed to see some wild kangaroos.
We then drove to Flinders Chase National Park to see the
Remarkable Rocks. They a natural rock formation on the north west coast of the. They were really impressive to walk around.
We carried on from there
to Admirals Arch. We had to walk down so many stairs to get there but I got
some great pictures of the arch and saw a colony of seals including a baby
which was really sweet.
We saw some sea lions swimming in the water. The waves were much larger than any I had seen before. Our last stop was at the Kangaroo Island Visitor Centre on the Penneshaw. There were some really impressive paintings and info about the history of Kangaroo Island.

We then headed back to
the ferry terminal to go back to the mainland. It was a lot choppier on the way
back, so I was so glad to get off the boat. I slept for a lot of the journey
back to Adelaide. I didn’t end up getting back to the hostel until around 11pm, so I went straight to bed.
