After lunch, we carried on driving to a town
called Lorne, and then went to a lookout point in Anglesea.
We also stopped at the Memorial Arch at Eastern Point, which is the famous Great Ocean Road Sign.
We then drove through Bells Beach to a town called Tourquay, which is known as Surf City. It’s where a lot of the big surf brands
like Rip Curl are based. We spent some time wandering round shopping in the
cheap outlet stores, and I got a little Rip Curl purse.
After Torquay, we stared
to head to Melbourne. We did stop at a couple more lookout points for some photos.
Sid was complaining about the amount of traffic there on the way into the city. For
me, there was barely at all considering it was rush hour. Australian perception
of traffic is very different to England.
I got dropped just
outside of Flinders Street Station in Melbourne city. I was originally told we
wouldn’t get in until late, so had booked a hostel. But Sid told us a few days
earlier we would get in at 5.30ish, so I cancelled my booking and was staying
with Emily.
I got a train from
Melbourne City to Blackburn, which is where Em lives, and she met me at the
train station. It seemed like we hadn’t seen each other in ages, whereas it had
only been a little over a week.
We went back to her
house, and I met Emily’s parents, John and Lisa. It was so nice to be in an actual
house and not hostels for a change. We had dinner with her parents and then
Emily and I went to a nice wine bar at a shopping center called Eastland.
We stayed there for a couple of hours catching
up and then went home to bed.
